Throughout this program, we'll share our vast industry knowledge with you. You will be taught industry-standard skills and tools user by top manufacturers and product development companies around the world. A vast range of electives are also included in the program to expand your skill set, strengthen your knowledge, increase your employment marketability, and give you competitive edge.
Do you have an interest in how things work, or how to make them work better? Do you enjoy learning and using mathematics on a daily basis? Then this may be the program for you. Our Mechanical Engineering Technologies program is specifically designed for individuals with little to no formal training in the Mechanical Engineering discipline. If you are already a draftsman, CAD operator, or Mechanical Designer, then this program is perfect to transition you into an associate engineering role.
This program follows the course requirements of a typical Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Program, for a fraction of the cost and time. Our core engineering courses have been developed by over 150 internationally known, accredited colleges & universities including, MIT, Boston University (BU), Harvard University, UC Berkley, and more. These lecturers are the same ones who developed and/or deliver the courses at the same Universities. Students will receive a certificate of completion by the associated College or University and Visible Edge Institute, a Post-Secondary Educational Institution licensed by the Department of Education, will certify that you completed the course and apply an actual letter grade to your transcript. This program is currently available as a Diploma level program only.
In the first portion of the program, you will begin your studies with a thorough introduction to Mechanical Engineering. Next, you'll be introduced to a state-of-the-art CAD system, SolidWorks - learning how to create 3D parametric geometry and using the tool throughout the program. For those without a drafting background, there is an optional Engineering Drawing & Graphics course.
Continue on to embark on Part 1 of 4 of an Overview of Manufacturing Processes and Sciences (for additional details on this 4-part series please see our Production Technologies program). Alternate between challenging CAD functions and dive deeper into how the designs you engineer and create will be made. Mathematics ranging from Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus I &, II will also be interwoven into the curriculum. For your convenience, we offer CLEP tests for mathematics up to Calculus I. If successfully completed, you may move on to the next required math course while getting college credit that will be recognized by most colleges and universities.
Rounding out the first half of the program, move on to explore the fundamentals of physics, mechanical systems, machine design, Design for Manufacturing (DfM), and additive manufacturing (3D Printing).
You'll have the opportunity to complete this part of program with an industry recognized certification in SolidWorks (CSWA) - in order to show prospective employers that you are a proficient 3D Parametric Solid Modeler & Detailer using an industry-standard 3D Mechanical Computer Aided Design (MCAD) system. Our partnership with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) allows our students to also attain the industry-recognized Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) & Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT) credentials.
In the second half of the program, you will dive into Calculus III & Differential Equations, Engineering Mechanics: Statics & Dynamics, Strength of Materials, Materials Science, Thermodynamics, System Dynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer and other core engineering courses plus electives.
As an added benefit, if you are currently unemployed, you may qualify to have the entire program paid for, 100%, without any out-of-pocket costs to you. We are WIOA, Trade Act and Section 30 Approved. We also offer various other financing options. Our counselors are available to help put together a customized program to meet your needs.
Upon completion of the program, you may obtain industry-recognized certification including, but not limited to:
Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA)
Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT)
Certified Manufacturing Expert (CMfgE)
Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA)
Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP)
Certified SolidWorks Expert (CSWE)
Total Quality Management (TQM)
Certifications in Microsoft Office 365
and more.
