Endless Electives

Choose to dive even deeper into the industry by exploring our vast range of electives - including environmental engineering, advanced modeling, engineering mechanics, organic chemistry, pollution control, calculus, analysis, and more.

Our Civil Design Technologies program focuses on teaching the required skills currently used by individuals in the Civil Design industry. Modern infrastructure upgrade requirements are putting a strain on the availability of existing resources with these skills - which are in high demand. Existing technologies and tools available are also rapidly expanding - creating large gaps between existing skill sets and the knowledge required today to meet current infrastructure demands. Throughout this comprehensive program, we’ll explore all of the subject matter and applications necessary to dive into the expansive world of Civil Design.

This program is designed for both absolute beginners and current industry specialists. First, the program focuses on the primary discipline specific subjects including Introduction to Civil Design Technologies, Architectural Graphics and Sketching, Basics of Civil Design & Engineering, Physics I (Algebra based), Chemistry Essentials, Civil Construction Drawings, Trigonometry & Precalculus Essentials, Statics for Civil & Architectural Designers, Strength of Materials, Soil Mechanics, Construction Industry: Techniques and Technology, Reinforced Concrete Fundamentals, Foundation Engineering & Design, Surveying, AutoCAD Civil 3D Introduction, Highway Design, Highway Engineering, AutoCAD Civil 3D Essentials, Hydraulics and Hydrology, Water & Wastewater Systems, Under Ground Piping Networks, AutoCAD MEP.

Interleaved within the core courses you will also study to become a proficient 3D Parametric Solid Modeler & Detailer using an industry standard 3D Computer Aided Design tool called Revit.

You will learn to create 3D models and produce technically accurate drawings of building and other civil structures while learning industry-standard drafting & modeling practices. Core topics will be Revit Essential Training: Architecture, Creating Concrete Buildings, Construction Modeling Tools, Detailing, Structure, and Industrialized Construction.

Additional subject matter will include Environmental Engineering Chemistry, Revit Architecture: Advanced Modeling, Calculus I, Environmental Pollution & Protection, Analysis & Applications using Mathematica, Python for Math & Spatial Metrics, Engineering Mechanics: Statics, Calculus II, Physics, Project Management, Environmental Chemistry, Differential Equations, Algebra (Linear), Materials Science: Physical Metallurgy I, Fluid Mechanics I, Structural Analysis, Reinforced & Prestressed Concrete, Environment & Ecology Management Concepts, Probability & Statistics, Project Planning and Design, Technical Writing and Calculus III.

Other optional electives include core fundamental training in over 200 additional program related topics such as Construction Management, Planning, Measurements, Cost Estimation, Job Sites, and Methodologies. Bridge & Footbridge Design, Engineering for Earthquakes, Geology, Geomatics, Surveying, Geotechnical Engineering, GIS, Microbiology, Bacteriology, Coastal Engineering, Marine Biology, Organic Chemistry, Pollution Control, Remote Sensing, Traffic Engineering, Solid Waste Management, Economics, Technical Communication, Programming with Mathematica, Python, MATLAB, VBA, BIM, Dynamo & Navisworks, Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, 3D Laser Scanning, Business Ethics, Critical Thinking, Electrical Controls Fundamentals, Public Speaking for Engineers, System Dynamics & Controls, Engineering Mechanics: Dynamics, Energy Fundamentals, Fluid Mechanics & CFD , Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, and Differential Equations. In addition, topics included in the Architectural Design Technologies program are also available as electives.

You will also have the option to learn Windows 10 Essentials and the entire Microsoft (Office) 365 suite of applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, OneNote, OneDrive, Outlook, Teams, Visio, Project, Planner, plus more.

As an added benefit, if you are currently unemployed, you may qualify to have the entire program paid for, 100%, without any out-of-pocket costs to you. We are WIOA, Trade Act and Section 30 Approved. We also offer various other financing options.
