Learn the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive within the gaming industry.
Our program blends a mix of theoretical understanding and practical application.
This program was specifically designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the gaming industry. The program blends a mix of theoretical understanding with practical application.
The curriculum begins with gaming industry careers and the fundamentals of game design, where students are introduced to a wide range of careers in the gaming industry, the gaming industry's landscape, understanding the fundamentals, player psychology, and engagement strategies.
Following this, the program delves into how to write clean code, offering an introduction to essential programming languages such as C++ and Python. Throughout this program students will learn basic algorithms, data structures, and grasp the concepts of object-oriented programming, laying a solid foundation for more advanced programming skills.
Simultaneously, students engage in the artistic side of game development, where they will acquire skills in 2D and 3D art, learn about game aesthetics, storytelling, and familiarize themselves with tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Blender.
Students may also decide to focus on storytelling, narrative development, character creation, dialogue writing, and storyboard creation - which are all crucial elements to engaging game design.
Throughout the program, students will apply their acquired skills to conceptualize and create simple games. The projects serve as an introduction to game development tools like Unity or Unreal Engine and help students understand the practical aspects of game development.
Curriculum then moves on to advanced game development, where we introduce students to advanced programming techniques, in-game physics, AI, and network programming. Students learn about game analytics, player behavior, game economy, monetization strategies, and analytics tools. Electives also include designing for mobile platforms, mobile user interfaces, the specifics of deployment, and testing on mobile devices.
Additionally, the curriculum includes electives in Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), covering the basics of VR and AR, designing immersive experiences, and relevant tools or platforms.
The student may also choose to include a Capstone Project, where they are required to develop a complete game. This project would utilize the application of all the skills learned throughout the program. Students design, develop, and test their game, presenting it to their instructor(s) for feedback and evaluation.
The curriculum is designed not only to impart technical skills but also to provide a comprehensive understanding of the game development process, from conception to execution. Assessments are continuous throughout the program.
Upon successful completion, students receive a certificate in Game Design & Development. Other industry-recognized certifications may be awarded upon successfully passing certification exams.
As an added benefit, if you are currently unemployed, you may qualify to have the entire program paid for, 100%, without any out-of-pocket costs to you. We are approved for WIOA, Trade Act, Section 30 and many other government grants. We also offer various other financing options.
Our counselors are available to help put together a customized program to meet your needs.
Upon completion of the program, students may obtain industry-recognized certifications including, but not limited to:
Adobe Creative Suite Certifications
Adobe Animate
Maya - Autodesk Certified User (ACU)
Google User Experience (UX) Design
and more.
