Architectural Design

Description

The Architectural Design Technologies Certificate program focuses on teaching the required skills used by people in the Architectural Design Industry. The breath of available Architectural Design technologies and tools available is rapidly expanding - creating large gaps between existing skill sets and the knowledge required today to meet current design demands. Throughout this comprehensive program, we’ll explore all of the subject matter and applications necessary to dive into the expansive world of Architectural Design.

This program is designed for both absolute beginners and current industry specialists. First, the program focuses on the primary discipline specific subjects including The Architectural Design Process & Project Type Basics, Architectural Graphics and Sketching, Physics I (Algebra based), Construction Math Foundations, Trigonometry & Precalculus, Statics for Civil & Architectural Designers, Strength of Materials, Soil Mechanics, Structural Steel Design Principles, Surveying, Fundamentals of Concrete Technology, Reinforced Concrete Fundamentals, and Foundation Engineering & Design.

Interleaved within the core courses you will also study to become a proficient 3D Parametric Solid Modeler & Detailer using an industry standard 3D Architectural Computer Aided Design tool called Revit. You will learn to create 3D models and produce technically accurate drawings of building and other architectural structures while learning industry standard drafting & modeling practices. Core topics will be Revit Essential Training: Architecture, Creating Concrete Buildings, Construction Modeling Tools, Detailing plus AutoCAD MEP training. Students will have the opportunity to earn an industry recognized Certification in Revit for Structural Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP).

For students wishing to pursue a Diploma Level Program additional subject matter will include Revit Architecture: Advanced Modeling, Calculus I, Mathematica, Algebra (Linear), Materials Science: Physical Metallurgy I, Structural Analysis, Revit: Structure & Industrialized Construction, Project Planning & Design, Technical Writing. These topics may also be taken as electives for Certificate level students.

Other optional electives include core fundamental training in over 200 additional program related topics such as Autodesk Inventor, Home Construction, Building Design & Construction, Roman & Postmodern Architecture, The Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Philip Johnson, and more. Other topics include Designing a Healthcare Facility with Revit and BIM, Residential Architecture, Architectural Visualization with Photoshop & Blender, Design of Small Homes & Energy-Efficient Buildings, Solar Design, Interior Design for Kitchens, Lighting & Modern Homes, Daylighting, Feng Shui, Landscaping & Garden Design, Urban Design Foundations & Strategic Planning, Construction Industry & Management, Cost Estimating & Scheduling, Electrical Systems, Lumion, Grasshopper, Sustainability, 3D Scanning, Hydraulics & Hydrology, Building for Earthquakes, Skyscrapers, Environmental Engineering Chemistry, Geology, Geomatics & Surveying, Geotechnical Engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Economic Principles, VBA, AutoCAD, BIM, Dynamo, Navisworks, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Augmented Reality, Public Speaking for Engineers, Energy Fundamentals, Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Calculus II, and Master Math by Coding in Python.

And… we did not forget Green Building Concepts. Start with a course in LEED Certification Introduction and choose optional industry recognized LEED Certification learning tracks such as LEED AP Green Associate, BD+C, Homes, ID+C, ND, O+M, and ID&C. Certification Exams are also available for AutoCAD Drafting & Design Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) and Revit for Architectural Certified Professional (ACP).

You will also have the option to learn Windows 10 Essentials and the entire Microsoft (Office) 365 suite of applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, OneNote, OneDrive, Outlook, Teams, Visio, Project, Planner, plus more!
